For This…

One of my favorite songs of all time is a song written by Kurt Carr titled, For Every Mountain. The lyrics of the song speak to what my heart is feeling during this holiday season. Allow me to include a portion of them in this blog post:

I’ve got so much to thank God for, So many wonderful may blessings And so many open doors

A brand new mercy Along with each new day, That’s why I praise You

And for this I give You praise

For waking me up this morning That’s why I praise You For starting me on my way That’s why I praise You For letting me see the sunlight

Of a new brand day A brand new mercy Along with each new day That’s why I praise You (That’s why I praise you)

For this I give You praise

And then it has a stanza that speaks to what many of us may be feeling during this current season of difficulty we all find ourselves in:

For every mountain,

You brought me over

For every trial, you see me through

For every blessings

Hallelujah, for this I give you praise

To say that 2020 has been a year unlike any we have ever experienced would be an understatement. It has been one of intense difficulty for not just our nation but our entire world. Even though it has been a year for the history books, our response to how we approach it is extremely vital. You can stick your head in the proverbial sand and just pray and hope this year quickly goes by or you can pick up your eyes and look to the hills where your help truly comes from and learn everything you need to learn from it.

Growth happens when we intentionally and passionately decide we are not going to just hope to get through all this but we are going to learn everything that we must from what we are experiencing. Our response in struggle determines our success in life.

You cannot approach the difficult moments of life and not choose what you are going to do through the middle of it. It is the process that always leads to the purpose and while walking along the path of difficulty and struggle we need to be reminded that even though it hasn’t been the year we may have expected – I am still grateful and thankful; Thankful for family, friends, salvation, protection… and the list goes on and on.

You have a choice in the trial. No one can make it for you, it is yours and yours alone to make. I trust that during this season you can take your eyes off all the uncertainty and trouble and truly respond in a way that aligns your vision with God’s promises. That you can say FOR THIS… I am going to give thanks and praise and worship for every mountain He has brought me over and for every trial He has seen me through.

For this….
